ASSESSMENT

Various types of assessments are possible depending upon the age and
problems of your child. All assessments involve a clinical interview with the
parents, observation of the child and formal psychological testing. We offer 4
main types of assessments.

(a) Neuropsychological/cognitive assessment (Ages 5-18 years)

This type of assessment is a comprehensive assessment which covers all
domains of cognitive ability. This assessment includes a core battery of tests
and then has flexible add-on modules according to the needs of your child.
This type of assessment is most suitable for children with a variety of
disorders that affect the brain such as head injury, brain tumours, pervasive
developmental disorders, genetic based developmental disabilities, cerebral
palsy, & epilepsy.

(b) Psycho-educational assessment (Ages 5-18 years)

The type of assessment is for children primarily with learning difficulties, with
no known other impaired cognitive abilities. This assessment will examine
your child's level of general intellectual ability (IQ) as well as their academic
achievement skills (reading, spelling, mathematics). We will be able to
formally diagnose whether your child has a specific learning disability such
as dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia. If your child has signs of attentional
difficulties we recommend the more comprehensive neuropsychological
assessment.
