Many children come home from school with reports of difficulty of keeping up with their peers. We therefore offer a relatively short assessment session (2-2 ½ hrs), which specifically only focuses upon both general intellectual functioning and academic achievement. This assessment will assess your child’s abilities in the following areas:
General intellectual functioning
Word reading
Reading comprehension
Phonological processing
Spelling
Maths reasoning
Numerical operations
Oral expression
Listening comprehension
We will outline for you your child’s specific profile, including their strengths and weakness. We will also determine whether your child shows evidence for a discrepancy between their level of cognitive ability and their academic achievement. This shows evidence for a specific learning disability such as dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia. We will give you a detailed report with directions for areas of improvement and strategies both in the classroom and at home. We will also provide guidelines on how to improve any areas of significant weakness.
